The Circle Houses at The Lawrenceville School,
built in the 1880’s, are the original student houses on the campus. The
six dormitory buildings each range in size between 17,000 and 20,000 GSF. Each
includes student sleeping and common rooms, as well as faculty apartments. This
phased program of rehabilitation at the houses provided new building and life-safety systems, improved barrier-free access,
and new finishes and furnishings throughout. The project also included the installation
of automatic fire suppression systems in four additional residence halls on the campus.

THE CLIENT:
The Lawrenceville
School is a private preparatory educational facility located in central New Jersey.
The Campus consists of 17 dormitories, 10 classroom buildings, and 7 other support buildings on 700 acres in a rural
setting. Students attend grades 9-12 and have the opportunity to board on campus. Off-campus study opportunities include terms in France, Spain and the Milton Mountain
School, as well as School Year Abroad, The Island School & Maine Coast Semester.
OUR RELATIONSHIP:
For
several members of The Stone House Group (SHG), the relationship with The Lawrenceville School began in 1997 as an overview
assessment of the school’s Buildings and Grounds Department. It later evolved
to management of the facilities staff. The company began work with this charter
client in March, 1999, with operations support services including budget evaluation, development and financial monitoring,
energy management, campus utility planning, cycle maintenance planning, building commissioning, and project management for
major construction. For the past four years the SHG has provided commissioning
and project management services for the full renovation of the Circle House Dormitories on the campus as well as the installation
of automatic fire suppression systems in four dormitories.
